Victoria Island, Lagos (Nigeria), stood still yesterday as Nigeria’s biggest indigenous rapper and CEO of YBNL record label, Olamide A.K.A Baddo hosted the second edition of the now widely acclaimed ‘OLAMIDE LIVE IN CONCERT’ (OLIC2).
As at 2pm local time, the Eko Hotel & Suites was filled to capacity as a mammoth crowd thronged the prestigious hotel lobby and premises to buy tickets and be first in line to witness what has become, the most prominent entertainment spectacle in Nigeria.
Fans were treated to the most scintillating of performances at the Eko Hotel’s 8,000 capacity Convention centre by the biggest music acts in Nigeria such as Vector, Burna Boy, Reminisce, Phyno, Ycee, Harrysong, Solid Star, Fuji artiste Pasuma, and a host of other artistes as well as UK-based comedy acts; Wowo Boyz.
The crowd erupted as Olamide performed hit after hit from previous albums and from his latest, ‘Eyan Mayweather’. With spectacular stage sets & pulsating dance performances, Olamide further raised the bar for live concerts in the country, further cementing his place as Nigeria’s foremost rap artiste.
A sold out concert way ahead of D-day, and an unprecedented crowd only raises a fundamental question; “Will the industry see anybody challenge Olamide’s ascendancy as the King of the Rap Game in Nigeria?”
