One person has been confirmed dead in a fire outbreak that gutted a section of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) Guest House in the early hours of Thursday in Lagos.
The victim said to be a guest who came for the ongoing 2014/2015 convocation of the institution, was said to have died of suffocation. The fire started around 2.00 a.m. The victim, who accompanied a prominent traditional ruler to the convocation, was said to be lodging in room A12, where he suffocated to death due to the impact of the fire.
The spokesman for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident in a text message sent to NAN. Bukola Saraki Finally Replies Obasanjo – Check Out The Contents Of The Official Letter

bukola-saraki-1 (2)
Senate president, Bukola Saraki has replied the shocking letter former President, Olusegun Obasanjo wrote the National Assembly accusing the lawmakers of corruption, impunity, greed and of repeatedly breaking the nation’s laws.
Former governor of Kwara State and Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has formally replied the letter ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo wrote to the National Assembly on January 13th, in which he accused the country’s federal lawmakers of corruption, greed, lawlessness and impunity.
The former president had in his letter, addressed to Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, accused the lawmakers of fixing and earning salaries and allowances far above what the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission approved for them.
He also alleged that most of the 109 senators and 369 members of the House of Representatives were receiving constituency allowances without maintaining constituency offices as the laws required of them.
He faulted the plans by the lawmakers to acquire new exotic cars for themselves, saying, ‘Whatever name it is disguised as, it is unnecessary and insensitive.’ He advised that ‘a pool of a few cars for each chamber will suffice for any Committee Chairman or members for any specific duty.’
In his response, Saraki told the former president that the lawmakers were fully aware of the challenges the nation was facing, saying, ‘As leaders with a duty, we will not disappoint Nigerians in their yearnings for a more transparent public expenditure system.’
On corruption, Saraki said the National Assembly was working with President Muhammadu Buhari to stem the menace in the country.
According to him, the legislature was already overhauling its oversight functions to make it more effective in exposing corruption in federal ministries, departments and agencies.

The Bitter Lessons From Oliseh’s Premature Exit – By Nomso Obiajuru

3442981_sundayoliseh1
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) through its President Amaju Pinnick had told everyone that the country had found its own Pep Guardiola, in Sunday Oliseh.
But eight months after, Oliseh’s time as Super Eagles coach would end up being dotted by avoidable controversies which has seen him earn the accolades as the worst coach ever in the country’s football history. However, there’s a lot to learn from the Oliseh saga.
Sports journalist, NomsoObiajuru presents major lessons to be learnt from the Oliseh’s saga, and what steps should be taken by the NFF, to prevent future occurrence.
The fact that Oliseh’s and NFF’s relationship has gone so awry to the extent that both parties are allegedly planning to settle their problems in court, says a lot about the entertainment and drama that has evolved in our football. It is a big insult on our nation.
The NFF, stung by the sudden resignation of coach Sunday Oliseh had asked their lawyers to study religiously his contract and come up with possible areas he breached the contract . This will guide them in dragging him before FIFA and CAS. But according to Oliseh, he is prepared to meet the NFF in court over what they termed breach of contract.
But should court be the next agenda on the NFF’s mind, I guess not! What should be done is correcting the wrongs that have been made.
The swiftness, with which the nation’s football governing body have reconstituted the coaching crew by bringing in Siasia, Amuneke, and others, is quite commendable, why because both Siasia and Amuneke are more experienced than Oliseh as a coach. However, the system which brought Oliseh in the first place, is in one area that should be perused holistically.
Below are some of the changes the NFF needs to implement in its administrative works:
Introduction of technical programmes
It is unfair to generally blame Oliseh for quitting his job, why because the NFF gave him the leverage to do what he did. In every working football system, a coach must submit a technical programme before he/she starts coaching a team. But did Oliseh do this? No.
The NFF must learn to have articulated technical programmes which will ultimately lead to progression in our football.
Change in the recruitment exercise of our coaches
“In 1982, there was advertisement for Chief Coach of the Nigeria national team. I understand that 60 people applied for the job, we were shortlisted to seven, and then an interview was conducted. We were asked to present a two year programme for the national team to be presented at the interview. The programme I prepared was 10 pages and with all my papers of my certificates and others, I presented over 80 pages. When last did we do something like that in the selection of our coaches,” Ex-coach of the Super Eagles Chief AdegboyeOnigbinde had said in a recent interview.
The aforementioned quote clearly shows that there is something wrong with our recruitment exercise and in the selection of our coaches. This should be thoroughly reviewed and re-examined.
Gone are the days when interested candidates for the Super Eagles job were painstakingly scrutinized.
Although, the NFF had said in a statement on Monday, February 29: “The NFF executive board with its penchant for long term planning took a long term view of Oliseh’s appointment and remains confident that with a little more patience on the part of the coach, things would have turned around for the better in the long run.”
But for me, Oliseh’s relationship with the NFF was bound to head south going by the early negative signs.
Oliseh had mentioned in one of his many assertions in his famous YouTube rant that he never wanted the Super Eagles job and that he rejected NFF’s offer twice.
“I didn’t beg for this job, I never wanted this job, I refused it twice and it took the intervention of a highly respected friend of mine who was in government for me to take this job,”Oliseh said.
This brings back concerns of how people get into power in our country. Is merit considered or does favour do the magic?
From Oliseh’s assertions, his job as Super Eagles coach could well have been influenced.
The NFF must learn to change its recruitment exercise by placing emphasis on aptitude and demonstrable abilities.
Developing our coaches
There have been calls for us to start developing our football. But when we talk about developing our football, it doesn’t always have to be about developing our players. What happens to our coaches? Don’t they also deserve advanced knowledge? Like they say “knowledge is power”.
This brings us back to the number one point, which is the need for technical programmes in our football.
The way we run our football is the major lesson to be learnt from the Oliseh’s saga. People may say that Nigerian coaches aren’t doing enough to develop themselves but I’m of the opinion that the NFF also has a role to play.
I’ll say this, just as change has swept through FIFA, I expect the same with the NFF.
This is because we stand at the risk of not qualifying for the Nations Cup, the World cup and even being left behind by emerging forces in Africa, if the right things are not done as quick as possible.

See How FFK Reacts To Sahara Reporters Allegation That He Bribed Justice To Quash His Money Laundering Charges

ffk
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani Kayode, has reacted to claims by Sahara Reporters that he bribed Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia to quash the money laundering case against him last year.
Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia was yesterday March 2nd, issued a warning and put on the “Watch-List” for the next four years by the National Judicial Council over allegations of corruption.
“SaharaReporters has however learned that Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia has some other undisclosed strikes against her, including obtaining money from former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode to set him free of the corruption charges against him in a case before her. It would be recalled that last July, Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia discharged and acquitted Fani-Kayode of all the corruption charges against him. In her dismissal of the charges, she described the prosecution’s case as “feeble”, arguing that it had failed to provide “copious evidence” linking Fani-Kayode with money laundering” the online portal wrote

Coach Oliseh’s Resignation Came As A Suprise To Me, But We’ll Beat Egypt – Onazi

onazi
Super Eagles and Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi says Sunday Oliseh’s retirement last week was a surprise to him but respects his decision and feels the Super Eagles have enough in their armoury to defeat the Pharaoh’s of Egypt in the AFCON Qualifiers later this month.
‘His resignation came to me as a surprise. I wasn’t expecting it. I don’t really know what happened and how it happened, but that’s his decision, I am sure he has his reasons for doing that. Coach Samson Siasia is a great coach, he has achieved with various Nigeria teams. I am looking forward to work with him and have a great performance with him.’ He told CompleteSportsNigeria.
When asked if the Super Eagles could beat Egypt and qualify for Afcon after missing out on the last one, Onazi said. ‘We will make it to AFCON 2017 by the grace of God. This time, it’s going to be a different ball game. It’s unfortunate that we are always in situation like this when we want to qualify for major competitions like the Nations Cup and World Cup.’ ‘I believe this time around we will be matured about it and we know how the emotions were when we couldn’t make it to the last edition of the Nations Cup. We will be very direct and serious about it.’ ‘There are no unbeatable teams in the world. We can actually beat them. They are coming to our home first and victory in the match is very important for us.’ ‘ We have to do all we can to beat them and go top of the group because that’s the surest way we can qualify.’

Prisoners At Kuje Prison Shocked To See Abba Moro Join Them Just A Year After Visiting Them As A Minister

abba moro
Inmates at the Kuje prison are in shock that the former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro is now one of them, The Nation reports. Many of them were excited and curious to know what led to his detention.
According to a source, the inmates were amazed to see Moro in prison custody barely one year after he visited the facility as the interior minister (oh well).
A source said the former minister was brought to the prison around 12 pm on Monday and made to undergo the standard procedures for inmates.
It would be recalled that, Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court, Abuja on Monday remanded the former minister in prison custody over his alleged complicity in a N676million job scam. May God not take us UP and then throw us DOWN, but then we should learn to do things right. Imagine how many innocent young Nigerians lost their lives, and the pregnant woman? Oh dear!

Where Are The Guys? Checkout This Simple Mind Game To Know How Your Bae Feels About You

Thinking-Man
The words “I love you” seems to be used to express how we feel towards another and even if many do not really understand the deep meaning,we have come to accept that as the usual way of expressing our feelings.
Do you know that at any point in time you can use a simple mind game using those same words to know your stands with your Bae (Before any other). HOW?
Very simple.
This is not what you do always so that it does not become preemptive but can be done once in a while when your bae least expect. Could be once a month or as often as you want but the catch is that the call must be unexpected..
When you call your bae, just end your conversation with “I LOVE YOU” and observe how he or she responds.

1. If he or she replies with I LOVE YOU TOO then relax…you still have nothing to worry about.
2. If the reply is “Same here” then that person might just be shy or not really into you.
3. If the response is “I know” then begin to worry.
4. If the response is “Are you sure” then you just might need to work on your affection towards the person or the person is just being smart.
5. If the response is something like “yeah.huh huh,ok and similar responses” Abeg no waste your time with such.
The bottom-line is that this mind game works very well and can hardly be faked for a long time because there will be some places where your bae will likely never respond favorably if the feeling is not sincere.
So anytime your bae responds to the “i love you” words with any other response asides “i love you too” abeg no dull yourself… something might just be wrong somewhere.

Hope this makes sense? – Drop your Comments.

OMG!!! Some Chibok Girls Have Started Having Babies – Rescued Boko Haram Captive Reveals

Chibok-Girls
A rescued girl has recounted her encounter with some of the abducted Chibok school girls in the north-eastern part of the country.
Some of the girls and women recently rescued by troops on Tuesday said the Chibok schoolgirls who were kidnapped about two years ago by insurgents are still alive, according to the Leadership.
Specifically, one of them simply identified as Zara, said she and other abducted girls came across some of the girls at a village called Njimiya when they were escaping from insurgents during a military onslaught.
‘‘When we got to Njimiya, we saw some girls fetching water. We spoke Kanuri to them. One of them later said in Hausa that they can’t speak Kanuri because they are from Chibok.’’
Zara, who is 5-month pregnant for a sect member, said some of the schoolgirls were kept under a tarpaulin erected in thick foliage.
The girls said some of the girls seemed ‘married’ because they were pregnant.
“One of the Chibok girls who now called herself Hauwa, because Boko Haram had given most of them new Islamic names, had recently delivered a baby. Some of the girls were looking traumatized while some looked okay and not worried about their conditions,’’ Zara said.
