IMSU Student Arraigned For Car Parts Theft In Lagos

An Imo State University student, Chinedu Ibe, who was yesterday arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting in Lagos, for alleged damage and stealing of car parts, said he was told he could only get clean cars to steal at Lekki, Lagos.

The 24-year-old 200 level student is facing a three-count charge bordering on stealing and damage, preferred against him by the police.

The prosecutor, Sergeant Cyriacus Osuji, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offences on July 24 at about 2:10a.m. at Fidelity Bank, Oniru Estate Victoria Island, Eti-Osa, Lagos.

He said Ibe damaged the side glasses of five cars parked within the bank’s premises, all valued at N900,000. According to the prosecutor, the offences committed are punishable under Section 409 and 348 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The defendant, who leaves with his aunt in Ojo Local Government, Lagos, said he was recruited into the ‘business’ by one Chidi, whose address he does not know.

The defendant told the court: “Chidi, who introduced me into this business, told me that it is only in Lekki I can find good cars and good parts to steal. I have stolen seven cars, four from Surulere and three from Okoko. What surprises me is that it is this same Chidi that buys these stolen parts from me.

“The highest price this Chidi has paid me for these parts is N28,000 and what keeps me amazed is that Chidi has been protecting me from the police. Whenever the police are after me, I usually call Chidi and we meet somewhere in coconut and then he resolves the issues.”

The magistrate, Mrs Adepoju, granted him N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum. The sureties must be related to the defendant and must show evidence of two years tax payment and their addresses verified.

She adjourned the case to September 20 for mention.

While for the Gionee M6 Plus will cost around 2999 yuan ($450) for the 64GB version, while the 128GB version will go for around 3199 yuan ($480). Well the date for sale varies as the M6 Plus will go on sale starting August 13 unlike the M6 which is on the 6^th of August.

Chocolate City Music Signs New Dancehall Artiste From Kenya By The Name ‘Qritical’

Chocolate City Music Nigeria has signed a new artiste from Kenya, going by the name ‘Qritical’.

After losing both parents within a space of two months upon entering his teenage years, Eric Onyango Omollo better known as Qritiqal, turned to music as a cathartic expression of deep seated feelings no one should endure at such a young age.
Born in 1989 and raised in Mombasa Kenya, he ventured into music through school festivals. He hung out with local artistes who mentored him through his personal struggles, including the loss of one of his siblings, as he passionately pursued music as both therapeutic and a career path. After a chance meeting with Gyptian at a local show, he was inspired to record original material and debuted in 2010 as a sensational dancehall artiste with the single ‘Weak Inside’ – a nationwide hit.

Did You Know ATM Usage In Nigeria Is Greater Than That Of The United Kingdom? You Need To Read This

A recent report reveals that the rate of cash withdrawals via ATM in Nigeria supersedes that of the United Kingdom.

A recent assessment by the Computer Warehouse Group (CWG) Plc has revealed that a higher percentage of Nigerians use the ‘Automated Teller Machines’ (ATMs) compared to their counterparts in Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK), ThisDay reports.

The Chief Executive Officer of CWG, Mr. James Agada, who spoke at an Editors’ workshop organised by the company in shared the outcome of the assessment and noted that the average ATM in Nigeria dispenses thrice the number of notes in Ghana and 10 times the number of notes in U.K

“By accepted proportion, according to the Central Bank of Nigeria, we should have at least 60,000 ATMs installed but only 15,000 ATMs are available to serve the teeming population. The number of people with ATM cards keeps increasing by the day, despite the shortfall in ATMs and Nigeria still ranks higher in ATM usage,” he said.

Agada, who agreed that ATMs come with some issues, however said these problems are overstated.

“The core issue we have with the ATMs are that we don’t have enough of them and the few around are overwhelmed,” he said.

The CWG boss, who also spoke against the background of ATM related fraud in the country, said it is not peculiar to the Nigeria environment, but a global challenge that is receiving attention from various quarters.

Husband Cuts Off Wife’s Hand Over Alleged Adultery [Viewer Discretion]

A man, identified as Jacob Nwachukwu from Abala in Obingwa area of Abia State, has cut off his wife’s left hand over allegation of infidelity.

The wife, Mrs. Nwadiokeonu Nwachukwu, is now at a hospital in Aba, while her severed hand had been taken to her husband’s village at Abala for burial. The sad incident happened on Monday, at Ogbor Hill, Aba, where the woman had lived for years, while the husband stayed in the village.

A female co-tenant of Mrs Nwachukwu, who craved anonymity, revealed what happened:
She told Vanguard that the couple had lived in the city for years before the husband lost his job and had to relocate to the village, leaving his wife, a trader, in the city.

She said, “The couple had always quarreled any time the man visited his wife in the city, to the extent that all the tenants are aware and intervened in their quarrels.”

The husband was said to have visited his wife on the day and during their usual quarrel, brought out a machete, cut off the wife’s hand and left with it to the village, while neighbours rushed her to the hospital. It was gathered that Mr. Nwachukwu’s intention was to kill his wife with the machete but missed the target as the woman was said to have used the severed hand to defend herself.
The wife’s suspected lover is said to be on the run, while her landlord reported the incident to a police station close to the hospital along Ogbor Hill, where the woman is currently on admission.

Area Commander, Aba Police Command, Mr. Peter Wabara, in a response to a text message, said the incident was yet to be reported to him. However, a police officer at Ogbor Hill Police Station, confirmed the incident and said investigation into the matter had commenced.

SS2 Student Leader Of Robbery Gang Arrested In Cross River

The Cross River State Police Command has arrested a Senior Secondary School, SS 2 student, Christian Donatus, aka Inyang, believed to be the leader of a robbery gang.

Donatus, a student of Eastern Secondary School, Ediba, Calabar, the state capital, had allegedly led his syndicate to raid a shop, Value Mart, owned by the former First Lady of the state, Obioma Imoke, two weeks ago.

The suspect was paraded alongside one of his accomplices, Ubong Bassey Essien, on Wednesday before newsmen at the Command’s headquarters.

Parading the 19-year-old man, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ms. Irene Ugbo, said the suspect who hails from Akokwa, Imo State, had been terrorizing various parts of the city, raiding homes, shops and commuters and dispossessing them of their valuables.

She said, “The gang shot a medical doctor at Akim Qua three weeks ago and also carted away safes at a shop along Marian Road, containing large sums of money.

“The suspect and one of his members were arrested on July 16 by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

“Efforts have been intensified to track down four other members of the gang who are on the run and we hope that very soon they will be arrested and brought to book.

“These ones in our custody will soon appear in court,” the PPRO added.

New Disease: More Deadly To Women Than Aids, Not Even Cond*ms Can’t Protect You

Many people are not aware of the dangers that can be transmitted sexually. One of those dangers is the HPV (Human Papilloma Virus) and women and men can be affected by it. When you first hear about HPV it does not look scary at all, but medical experts claim that HPV can be the reason for cervical cancer, penis, anus and even mouth cancer.

That is why this article will be about some facts about HPV and how to prevent it and what to do in case you get HPV. After all it is a dangerous virus that should not be underestimated.

First you should know that there are 100 different types of this virus and it affects the human skin.

Second you should know that HPV cause common warts on the feet and hands and that most types of this virus are not life-threatening meaning that they are harmless without showing any symptoms and eventually they will go away on their own without you doing anything. These facts are all explained in the National Cervical Cancer Coalition of the United States.

Now you should know that there are about 40 types of HPV that are known as genital HPV. If they are known as genital HPV it is obvious that they affect the genital area.

Bad thing about genital HPV is that 80% of males and females will experience at least one type of genital HPV at some point in their life.

Another bad thing about genital HPV is that you can get the virus without even having intercourse.

And the worst part is that people usually do not know that they have HPV virus because it might not show any signs or symptoms and that is why it can be easily transmitted and that one person can be infected with one or more type of HPV.

Usually people get their first experience with genital HPV in the first couple of years of becoming sexually active.

Here are other facts about HPV:

1. Both male and female cond*ms will not completely protect you from getting this infection. They are just reducing the risk but not completely eliminating it.

2. Head and neck cancer can be caused by the HPV type 16.

3. Another fact about women over 30 years – do the Pap smear test or simply ‘Pap test’. This is recommended by National Cervical Cancer Coalition and it is a test where abnormal cells in the cervix that may cause cervical cancer can be detected.

4. If a woman that is older than 30 years somehow gets this infection, she can cure from it in natural way she will just need to pay a visit to a gynecologist to get the proper treatment.

5. We already mentioned that many types of HPV are harmless but the ones called ‘’high-risk’’ can change the cell structure of the cervix and with that to cause cervical cancer.

6. Almost 30% of oral carcinomas are HPV-related.

7. Cervical cancer is 100 percent preventable but if only it has been diagnosed in early stage. National Library of Medicine of the United States stated that.

8. It is of a big importance to go to gynecologist more often to do routine exams even when the woman is not sexually active because woman that is infected with HPV (high-risk) has big chances of getting cervical cancer in the next 10 – 20 years.
